A Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), often referred to as a Maintenance Management System, is a software solution that streamlines and automates the maintenance management processes within an Oil & Gas facility. A CMMS is an integral part of Enterprise Asset Management (EAM). The Oil & Gas industry depends on a large number of assets for its day-to-day operations and the primary purpose of a CMMS is to help efficiently manage and maintain these assets.

Broadly, a CMMS carries out a wide variety of tasks, some of them being:

• Work order management: Maintenance tasks are typically managed through the generation of daily work orders. These work orders are created through a CMMS that facilitates the creation, assignment, and tracking of such tasks and includes planned and unplanned maintenance activities.

• Maintenance records and reporting: The CMMS maintains detailed records of maintenance activities, such as work orders executed, maintenance costs, and other relevant data. The CMMS will also have the capability to generate comprehensive reports.

• Integrations: A CMMS is a part of other larger systems used to manage operations. A CMMS system should integrate with other systems like ERP and SCADA to help organizations achieve their larger goals.
